Grass-fed Beef

Read more information about the benefits of grass-fed beef in our nutrition pages.

Traditional Bulk Sales

The beef is raised by Shady Grove Ranch.

Our beef is delicious and tender (and not too lean!!) and is never fed grain or administered antibiotics or hormones. They are supplemented with free choice, high quality minerals and Redmond's sea salt. The texture and flavor of the beef beats even the yummiest steakhouse or prime choice supermarket cut, at least in our opinion. Try it and see.

On-Farm Sales of Individual Cuts

We now offer on-farm sales of steaks, roasts, ground beef, brisket, and some organ meats. Prices vary from $4.50 per pound to $20 per pound. Call us to schedule an appointment to come shopping!

Quarter, Half, or Whole Cow: $4.25/pound hanging weight. $150 deposit required.

Customize your cuts with this order! You can choose your steak types and thicknesses, ground beef fat content, quantity of roasts vs. ground, round steak, etc., and choose to keep the organs, fat, bones, and trimmings (trimmings are for pets). We expect the whole animals to have a hanging weight of around 400 to 450 pounds, with roughly 300 pounds coming home, depending on how much you'd like to keep and how it is cut. Divide accordingly for halves and quarters. Allow 3-6 weeks. Processing deadline for 2010: November 15.

Grassfed Sampler: $150 total. Prepayment required.

This is a 25 pound box of mixed roasts and ground beef for those wanting grassfed in smaller quantities. The mix will be about half and half and is a great way to buy grassfed with limited freezer space or budget, or to try it for the first time. Availability is based on interest and quantities are limited.

"Weston A. Price Box": $30. Pre-payment required.

This is our first time to offer this box, so purchasers of this option will be acting as our guinea pigs! We are estimating the box to be roughly 15 pounds of assorted organ meats including liver, kidney, tongue, oxtail, as well as another 10 pounds or so of soupbones (if desired). These cuts are highly nutritious when the animal is raised properly, and are considered to be very delicious meals among traditional cultures. Soupbones make the most high quality broth and suet you can imagine, so get ready to go gourmet, Weston A. Price style! (See www.westonaprice.org for information on Dr. Price's work.)

Estimated Arrival and Pickup Options:

The beef is usually ready about 2-3 weeks after it is brought to the processor and is frozen, and we suggest ordering at least 6 weeks before you need the beef to give us time to schedule a processing date. We offer two pickup options: you can pick up at the processor in Marshall or on the farm in Jefferson. We don't have much freezer storage here on the farm, so if you'd like to pick up in Jefferson, please understand your meat will be in a cooler and we will need to plan an appointment ahead of time. We will choose a day and time for customers who would prefer this option.
